Q: Should I post a question?A: Maybe. Have you searched the forums? There is a lot of info in the
FAQ as well as the
DIY Forums. If that fails, try the
Search feature. Baring all that, post in the appropriate forum.
Q: Where should I post?A: That depends on what you're asking. If it's something simple ask it in the Mess Hall forum. If you're asking for a part number, or help talking apart something, ask in the Tech/Work Bench. If you're a newbie and really don't know where, post in the Newbie Forum. You will not get anyone saying 'search newbie!'. Still, it's always good to
Search first.
Q: Should I answer a post?A: Not Always. When someone asks a question that you do not know beyond a shadow of doubt that you have the correct answer, please don't answer. Or if you aren't 100% sure, then somehow indicate that your info MAY not be dead on. The wrong answer you give, may end up costing someone time/money/effort. Or it may just spread more bad info, which isn't a good thing either.
Q: What is Karma/Applaud/Spite?A: This is a way you can help improve the board. If someone is helpful you might consider giving them a positive Karma point. To do this, click 'Applaud'. On the other hand, if someone is doing something that really should be here, you can 'Spite' them. If someone has too many negative Karma, they can be banned. Depending on the offense, it can be just a post restriction or a complete ban. This is at the Forums digression. There is no appeal process so beware.
Q: Why can't I give Karma points?A: If you have the Newbie Status, you haven't been here long enough. Keep asking and answering those questions and it will change. With the change comes the ability to give Karma points.
Q: Are multiple accounts allowed?A: This is an instant delete/ban.
Q: I reported a post now what?A: All Moderators will get the notice. It is a good idea to PM a moderator and/or follow up if it really is that important. Also, consider giving negative Karma points. Any flagged material will be looked at by the Moderator Staff and moved, edited or deleted at the Moderators discretion. There are currently 4 Moderators,

Q: I'd like to sell something, can I?A: Yes, but do so in the
Garage Sale Forum only.
Q: I can't see that forum.A: You need a certain number of posts to be able to see the Sale forums. This is to prevent people from joining just to sell items.
Q: Can I cross post?A: Cross posts are not allowed. Negative karma points may be applied. Repeat offenders will be banned immediately.
Q: I would like to make a donation but how much?A: There is no set amount. Give what you can. Anything will be appreciated. Past and Present Donators are listed

Q: I am a Vendor and would like to sell stuff here.A: There are no banners ads here to buy but there is a Vendor Forum where people can ask questions or put in requests or group buys. Vendors will be allowed to post up sale items, links to their web store. Fees haven't been setup as of yet. Prospect vendors can put in inquiries in the
Forum Feedback Forum.
Q: What else can I do to get negative Karma Points?A: Flaming is a good option. If that doesn't work one liners like IBTW, SEARCH, etc... will do. Have a complaint, take it up in the Forum Feedback Forum not the General Forum. It better not be in the Technical Forum.
Q: Is swearing allowed?A: Yes and no. This is a Family oriented forum and should be PG most of the time. Some words have been censored. This isn't the street so try to keep it clean, your Mom might be lurking.
Q: What about pictures?A: Keep the size down to around 800x600dpi. The forum should resize anything larger BUT keep in mind that not everyone has a T1 or even Broadband. If you post a bunch of pictures in a row, you might want to put up a '56K Warning' for those one modems. Basically, if you have to question it, don't post it. p0rn will get you banned. Border line picts will be removed and negative Karma may be applied.
Q: Why was my post deleted?A: Your post may have been deleted for several reasons. The most common reason is that you strayed well off topic or your post was reported to a Moderator. Your post may also have been moved to a more appropriate area. This is common with Tech questions in the General Forums. Above all don't thread-crap especially in the For Sale Forum. If you have questions ask them in Forum Feedback not in the General Forums.
Q: I joined now what?A: You should get a Activation email shortly. If not then one of two things may have happened. Either your application was denied, or for some reason you are unable to receive the email that was sent. If the account isn't activated in 3 months, it will be deleted. So send a reply email to
wheresmyaccount@4bangerjp.com if you've been waiting more then a week. Don't just say, 'Activate me' because it won't happen. All prospect accounts are checked for origin so we filter out the spammers. Give a short description of your Jeep or something else that lets us know you're real.
Q: I've been here for X months, why I can't login to my account?A: If your new account has 0 posts and you have been inactive for more then 30 days, there is a good chance your account will be deleted. Accounts with 1 or more posts that have been inactive for more then 365 days/ 1 year may also be deleted unless arrangements have been made prior. (ie., health, family, military, etc...)
Q: Anything else I should know?A: Just don't be a jerk and you'll do fine.
